South Carolina S0504 amends the state code to establish a separate criminal offense for distributing, selling, purchasing, manufacturing, or possessing with intent to distribute controlled substances within a half-mile radius of public or private elementary, middle, or secondary schools; public playgrounds or parks; public vocational or trade schools or technical educational centers; public or private colleges or universities; child care facilities; or day programs. Conviction requires knowledge of the location and actual commission of the offense within the specified radius.
