Private Providers

Introduced·3/6/25
Introduced Text

Authorizes private providers to offer evaluations and services to students in South Carolina public schools.

The bill allows private providers to evaluate and offer medically necessary services to students in South Carolina public schools during school hours. School boards cannot prohibit these evaluations or services if requested by a parent or guardian. The State Board of Education must develop a model policy for these services, which districts must adopt or develop their own policies by January 1, 2026. The model policy must include a case-by-case review process, clarify covered evaluators and providers, and require background checks and insurance for providers.
