Restructuring the Department of Employment and Workforce by changing the appointment process for the executive director.
This bill amends the South Carolina Code to change the appointment process for the executive director of the Department of Employment and Workforce. The executive director will now be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. The Department of Employment and Workforce Review Committee will nominate three qualified applicants for the Governor to consider. The bill also removes the requirement that the committee finds the appointee qualified before nominating them. The executive director will receive compensation as established under the provisions of Section 8-11-160.
