South Carolina S0277 modifies the exemption of a judgment debtor's earnings from execution to allow 75% of personal service earnings to be applied.

South Carolina S0277 amends Section 15-39-410 of the South Carolina Code to change the exemption of a judgment debtor's earnings from execution. Instead of a complete exemption, the bill allows 75% of the debtor's personal service earnings to be applied toward satisfying a judgment. Additionally, the earnings withheld for this purpose cannot exceed the limits set by the Federal Consumer Credit Protection Act. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
