Introduced Text

South Carolina S0274 amends the weekly unemployment benefit amount to fifty percent of an insured worker's weekly average wage.

South Carolina S0274 amends the South Carolina Code to change the calculation of the weekly unemployment benefit amount. The bill sets the maximum weekly benefit amount at three hundred fifty dollars, which is sixty-six and two-thirds percent of the statewide average weekly wage. The weekly benefit amount must be computed to the next lower multiple of one dollar and cannot be less than forty-two dollars. The bill also removes the requirement for the Department of Employment and Workforce to publish the maximum weekly benefit amount on its website.
