S.0236

Anesthesiologist Assistants

Introduced·1/16/25

Anesthesiologist Assistants bill modifies supervision and licensing requirements in South Carolina.

The bill amends South Carolina's regulations for anesthesiologist's assistants, allowing anesthesiologists to supervise up to four assistants at once. It removes the requirement for applicants to appear before a board member and present academic credentials. Instead, applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree and a graduate-level degree in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. They must also pass an examination for certification from the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist's Assistants.
