Introduced·1/14/25
Introduced Text

South Carolina S0168 amends concealable weapon permit laws to allow automatic renewals and establish reciprocity with Georgia and North Carolina.

South Carolina S0168 amends the state's concealable weapon permit laws. It mandates that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division automatically renew permits if the permit holder has a valid driver's license and a favorable background check. Permits must use the driver's license information and photograph and be mailed to the permit holder's driver's license address. Permits not automatically renewed can be renewed at no cost for disabled veterans and retired law enforcement officers, with a $50 fee for others.
