Requires South Carolina public school students to salute the U.S. flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
This bill amends South Carolina law to require all public school students, from kindergarten through high school, to salute the United States flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance during designated times each school day. Students who do not wish to participate may leave the classroom, remain seated, or express their nonparticipation in a non-disruptive manner. Exemptions apply to children of accredited representatives of foreign governments with diplomatic immunity. The bill takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
