County Treasurer Qualifications

Establishes qualifications for county treasurers in South Carolina, including education and experience requirements.

The bill amends the South Carolina Code to add qualifications for individuals eligible to serve as county treasurers. To be eligible, a person must be a U.S. and South Carolina citizen, a qualified elector of the applicable county, and possess either a four-year bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or economics, or at least four years' experience in accounting, financial management, financial reporting, budgeting, or economics, or as an employee in a treasurer office or as a treasurer in the state.
