South Carolina S0031 mandates that student identification cards issued by public and private schools, charter schools, and institutions of higher learning include the telephone number for the National Suicide Prevention 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Schools must also print the contact information for at least one additional crisis resource, such as the Crisis Text Line or a local suicide prevention hotline. This requirement applies to new and replacement ID cards. Schools without ID cards must provide this information in an alternative format.
