South Carolina S0024 amends the state code to allow a court to order a community evaluation for a juvenile instead of a residential evaluation, provided certain conditions are met. The bill specifies that a community evaluation is equivalent to a residential evaluation but does not require all components of a residential evaluation. The Department of Juvenile Justice must recommend the appropriate case disposition to the court before final disposition.
