The bill establishes the Health Care Professional Loan Forgiveness Program in South Carolina. It provides for the reimbursement of student loan payments for eligible health care professionals, including physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses. To qualify, participants must commit to working in underserved rural or urban areas for two years after graduation. The South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium administers the program, which can award up to $30,000 per eligible participant. An advisory committee assists in developing policies and procedures.
