This bill amends South Carolina law to allow adoptees who have reached the age of eighteen to request a copy of their original birth certificate and accompanying evidence of adoption. The request must be accompanied by a completed contact preference form and medical history form from a biological parent. If a biological parent is deceased, a certification of death is required. The copy of the original birth certificate must clearly indicate it is not a certified copy and may not be used for legal purposes.
