The Charity Protection Act amends South Carolina law to prohibit state agencies from imposing annual filing or reporting requirements on charities that are more burdensome than the requirements established in Chapter 56, Title 33. This protection does not apply to state grants and contracts or fraud investigations, nor does it restrict enforcement actions against a charitable organization. The act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
