Chamber Passed·4/16/26

Amends the definition of "hospital" to include facilities providing overnight care and emergency services.

This bill amends the definition of "hospital" in South Carolina law to include facilities that provide overnight medical or surgical care, nursing care, and on-campus emergency services. It also includes facilities that may provide obstetrical care and are administered by licensed medical professionals. The definition now includes residential treatment facilities for children, adolescents, or young adults in need of mental health treatment that are part of a licensed psychiatric hospital.
