The bill amends the South Carolina Code to prohibit companies owned, in whole or in part, or controlled by the People's Republic of China or the Chinese Communist Party from owning, leasing, possessing, or exercising control over land within twenty-five miles of a military base for installing or erecting telecommunications or broadcasting towers. The bill aims to protect critical infrastructure from cyberattacks and electronic espionage. Equipment installed before January 1, 2025, must be replaced with U.S.-made equipment installed by a U.S.-based company.
