This bill amends South Carolina law to add several aggravating circumstances for which the death penalty may be imposed in murder cases. These include committing murder during the commission of certain crimes, murdering a judicial officer or law enforcement officer, and murdering a vulnerable person. The bill also includes provisions to ensure that the remaining portions of the act remain valid if any part is found unconstitutional. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
