US produced iron and steel

Complete·7/1/26

Requires public entities to use U.S.-produced iron and steel in public works projects.

This bill mandates that public entities in South Carolina include a requirement in contracts for public works projects that any iron or steel products permanently incorporated in the project be produced in the United States. Exceptions apply if U.S.-produced iron or steel is not available, the cost increase exceeds 25%, or it is inconsistent with the public interest. The State Fiscal Accountability Authority must develop guidelines to implement this section. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
