Introduced Text

South Carolina H4700 amends property tax exemptions for disabled veterans and surviving spouses.

South Carolina H4700 amends the state code to expand property tax exemptions for disabled veterans and their surviving spouses. The bill allows disabled veterans who are not totally and permanently disabled to claim a percentage of the exemption based on the severity of their service-connected disability. Surviving spouses of disabled veterans can also claim a percentage of the exemption. The bill further extends the exemption to two private passenger vehicles owned or leased by disabled veterans or surviving spouses. The changes apply to property tax years beginning after 2025.
