Great-grandparent Visitation

Introduced·1/13/26
Introduced Text

Allows courts to order great-grandparent visitation of a minor child under certain circumstances.

This bill amends South Carolina law to allow courts to order visitation for a great-grandparent of a minor child if the child's parents are deceased, divorced, or living separately, and if the court finds that the parents are unreasonably depriving the great-grandparent of visitation. The court must also determine that the parents are unfit or that awarding visitation would not interfere with the parent-child relationship. The judge may award attorney's fees and costs to the prevailing party.
