Introduced·1/13/26
Introduced Text

Establishes a grading system for South Carolina childcare facilities based on inspections and data criteria.

The bill mandates the development of a childcare safety and quality grading system for all licensed childcare facilities in South Carolina. Facilities will receive a letter grade from A to F based on objective, measurable data collected during inspections. Facilities must display their grade on a placard provided by the department. The department will maintain a searchable online database with facility grades and inspection history. Facilities receiving a grade below a "B" may request a reinspection after submitting proof of corrective action.
