Probate, notice to creditors

Chamber Passed·2/11/26

Allows online publication of notice to creditors in South Carolina probate cases.

This bill amends South Carolina law to allow personal representatives to publish notice to creditors online on a centralized website for the South Carolina Probate Court. The online notice must be published once a week for three successive weeks. Alternatively, notice can still be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county. The centralized website must be organized by county and searchable by the names of either the decedent or the personal representative. The bill also allows a one-time fee for online publication, which can be paid from the decedent's estate.
