The South Carolina Technology Security Act bans state agencies and political subdivisions from purchasing, leasing, or using telecommunications, video surveillance, or container tracking technology from specified Chinese companies. These companies include Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, and Dahua. Violations can result in criminal or civil penalties. The act also requires any current contracts involving these products to be nullified. The Attorney General must report annually on investigations and enforcement actions.
