The South Carolina General Assembly has passed a resolution to congratulate Sadie Gamble, Ellafair DuRant, Railyn Joyner, and Kayden Crisanti, fifth-grade students at Laurence Manning Academy, for winning the 2025 Children's Book Challenge. The challenge, sponsored by Black River Electric Cooperative and the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, invited fourth and fifth-grade students to write and illustrate a children's book focusing on safety around electricity.
