South Carolina H4266 amends the state's building codes to allow local jurisdictions to request modifications based on local physical or climatological conditions. The South Carolina Building Codes Council must review and grant these modifications if they provide a reasonable standard of public health, safety, and welfare. The council must give deference to the local jurisdiction's governing body in approving amendments. Modifications must not take effect until reviewed and approved by the council.
