Local planning

Introduced·2/19/25
Introduced Text

Amends South Carolina zoning ordinances to define "concurrency programs" and allow local planning commissions to recommend regulations for land.

This bill amends the South Carolina Code to define "concurrency programs" in zoning ordinances. These programs condition approval of land development activities on the adequacy of public facilities and services. The bill also allows local planning commissions to recommend regulations for land development when certain comprehensive plan elements are adopted. These regulations aim to ensure land can be safely used for building purposes and to encourage private development in priority investment zones.
