Electric Rate Stabilization Act

Establishes a procedure for adjusting electric utility rates to stabilize revenue.

The Electric Rate Stabilization Act allows public utilities to adjust their rates based on changes in expenses, revenues, investments, and other factors. Utilities can elect to apply this article to their rates and charges for retail electric service. The Office of Regulatory Staff reviews quarterly monitoring reports to determine if rate adjustments are necessary. If adjustments are needed, the commission orders the utility to make the necessary changes. The act also allows for additional staffing for the Office of Regulatory Staff to be funded by assessments on electric utilities.
