South Carolina H3862 revises charter school admissions preferences, prioritizing returning students and others.

South Carolina H3862 amends charter school admissions preferences, prioritizing returning students and excluding them from lotteries. Charter schools may also give priority to siblings of current students, children of employees or charter committee members, and dependents of active-duty military personnel. Schools on military bases can prioritize up to 50% of enrollment for military dependents. Students eligible for multiple preferences can only be enrolled under one. The act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
