Prohibits governmental entities from granting or recognizing legal personhood to non-human entities.

This bill amends the South Carolina Code to prevent governmental entities from granting or recognizing legal personhood to non-human entities, including artificial intelligence, inanimate objects, bodies of water, land, real property, atmospheric gases, astronomical objects, weather, plants, nonhuman animals, and any other member of a taxonomic domain that is not a human being. Legal personhood is defined as the legal rights and obligations of an individual or a person other than an individual. The bill takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
