The Competitive Education Employment Act amends South Carolina's educational standards and assessments to incorporate Spanish language and culture. It directs the State Board of Education to adopt educational standards for Spanish, to be implemented by the 2026-2027 school year. The statewide assessment program will include Spanish for grades three through eight, and end-of-course tests for Spanish will be administered. The summative assessment must evaluate students in English/language arts, mathematics, and Spanish, including those with disabilities.
