Student ID cards must include crisis resource contact information for suicide prevention and teen dating abuse.
This bill amends South Carolina law to require private and public schools, including charter schools, to include contact information for crisis resources on student identification cards. Public and private institutions of higher learning must print the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number on student ID cards. Schools may also include the Crisis Text Line, a local suicide prevention hotline, or the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline. Schools not issuing ID cards must provide this information in an alternative, written format. The bill takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
