Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Introduced·1/14/25
Introduced Text

Clarifies that children under parental control in a household receiving SNAP benefits must be counted as household members.

This bill amends the South Carolina Code to clarify that children under the age of eighteen, who are under the parental control of a household member other than their parent, must be considered members of the household for calculating Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. This change ensures that such children are included in the household size for benefit calculation purposes. The act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
