Jaden's Law

Introduced·1/14/25
Introduced Text

Jaden's Law establishes protocols for handling boating accidents in South Carolina, including reporting requirements and investigation procedures.

Jaden's Law mandates that 911 dispatchers ask specific questions to determine if a boating accident victim is conscious and able to communicate. If the victim is conscious and the accident occurred on a body of water, the Department of Natural Resources must be notified. Law enforcement agencies must investigate boating accidents involving deceased or unconscious victims, and the coroner must report boating accident deaths to the Department of Natural Resources and the State Law Enforcement Division.
