Courts, transfer of criminal cases from general sessions

Allows transfer of criminal cases with penalties up to three years from general sessions court.

This bill amends South Carolina law to allow the transfer of certain criminal cases from general sessions court. Specifically, it changes the eligibility criteria for transferring cases, allowing for transfers when the penalty does not exceed three years of imprisonment, rather than one year. This change applies to cases originally charged or as charged pursuant to a plea agreement. The act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
