Complete·6/2/26

South Carolina H3569 allows victims of domestic violence to terminate rental agreements within 60 days of a qualifying incident.

South Carolina H3569 amends the state code to allow residential tenants who are victims of domestic violence to terminate their rental agreements within 60 days of a qualifying incident. A qualifying incident is defined as domestic abuse or violence where both the victim and the perpetrator are leaseholders on the same property and the incident is documented by a restraining order, an order of protection, or a conviction. The protected tenant remains responsible for rent and other owed amounts, except for early termination fees.
