South Carolina Emergency Fuel Supply Act mandates backup generator wiring for fuel stations near evacuation routes.

The South Carolina Emergency Fuel Supply Act requires fuel stations under construction after January 1, 2025, located within a half mile of designated evacuation routes or on primary highways, to install wiring for a backup generator. Operational stations near these routes must also install wiring if undergoing significant renovations. Additionally, any fuel station part of a chain with ten or more locations in South Carolina must have wiring for a backup generator and access to a working generator deployable within 24 hours of an emergency declaration.
