Prohibits contracts with certain foreign-owned companies for critical infrastructure in South Carolina.
The bill amends the South Carolina Code to prohibit businesses and governmental entities from entering into agreements with companies owned or controlled by citizens of or directly controlled by China, Iran, North Korea, Russia, or a designated country. This applies to companies headquartered in these countries or those with securities publicly traded on a public stock exchange. The prohibition covers agreements granting access or control of critical infrastructure, excluding utility services. The Governor can designate countries as threats to critical infrastructure.
