Prohibits companies owned by China or the Chinese Communist Party from owning land near military bases for telecommunications towers.
This bill amends the South Carolina Code to prohibit companies owned, in whole or in part, by the People's Republic of China or the Chinese Communist Party from owning, leasing, possessing, or controlling land within fifty miles of a military base for installing telecommunications or broadcasting towers. Any existing equipment must be replaced with U.S.-made equipment installed by a U.S.-based company. The law also mandates inspections for monitoring, jamming, or interception equipment, which must be removed if found.
