Introduced·1/14/25
Introduced Text

Requires health insurance plans in South Carolina to cover hearing aids for individuals with impaired hearing.

The bill amends the South Carolina Code to mandate that all health insurance and group health benefit plans cover hearing aids and replacement parts for individuals with impaired hearing. It defines "hearing aid" to exclude batteries, cords, personal sound amplification products, and other assistive listening devices. The Department of Insurance must set minimum coverage rates and limits for hearing aids. The bill also requires the Department to compile a list of licensed audiologists and hearing aid dealers.
