Physicians in certain state positions may have licensure exam requirements waived.
This bill amends the South Carolina Code to allow the Board of Medical Examiners to waive certain examination requirements for applicants if they possess the requisite general medical knowledge to competently practice medicine. The waiver applies to applicants offered positions within the South Carolina Department of Corrections, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, or the Disability Determination Services Unit of the State Agency of Vocational.
