Possession of up to 28 grams of marijuana or 10 grams of hashish is now a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $200 and up to 30 days in jail. The court may issue a citation instead of arresting the offender. For a first offense, the court may require the offender to complete a drug treatment or rehabilitation program. Subsequent offenses increase the penalties, with a third or subsequent offense being a felony.
