Guardians ad litem in private custody or visitation actions before the family court are subject to investigation for misconduct.
This bill amends the South Carolina Code of Laws to add a new section requiring guardians ad litem in private custody or visitation actions before the family court to be subject to investigation by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel. The Office of Disciplinary Counsel will receive and investigate allegations of ethical misconduct and violations of statutory duty by these guardians ad litem. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
