South Carolina H3083 amends the state code to prohibit the emission of air contaminants for geoengineering purposes, which involve altering temperature, weather, or sunlight intensity. The bill updates Section 48-1-110 to explicitly ban the intentional emission of chemicals for these purposes. The Department of Environmental Services will continue to monitor and regulate emissions to protect public health and welfare. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
