This bill amends the South Carolina Code to expand the civil jurisdiction of magistrates. Magistrates now have concurrent jurisdiction in cases involving contracts, personal or property damages, penalties, fines, forfeitures, attachment of property, bonds, confessions of judgment, fraud in sales, landlord-tenant disputes, and recovery of personal property. The jurisdiction applies to cases where the claimed amount does not exceed $725,500. The changes take effect upon approval by the Governor.
