Allows courts to use electronic monitoring for domestic violence offenders instead of or in addition to setting bond.
This bill amends South Carolina law to allow courts to place individuals charged with domestic violence offenses under electronic monitoring instead of or in addition to setting bond. The monitoring device must record the person's location at all times and notify the victim. The offender must follow instructions to maintain the device and may be charged for its cost, with exceptions for hardship. Tampering with the device is punishable. Fees generated support the active electronic monitoring program.
