Introduced Text

South Carolina H3014 amends custody laws to allow fathers visitation rights if paternity is acknowledged or adjudicated.

South Carolina H3014 amends the state's custody laws to allow a father visitation rights if paternity has been acknowledged or adjudicated. Unless the court orders otherwise, custody remains with the natural mother unless she has relinquished her rights. The bill requires courts to award visitation to the father unless he is unfit and poses a risk to the child's health and safety. The frequency, duration, and conditions of visitation are to be set forth in a court order.
