Introduced Text

Rhode Island Voting Rights Act to prevent discrimination in voting.

The Rhode Island Voting Rights Act establishes procedures to prevent discrimination in the voting process. It mandates language assistance for voters with limited English proficiency, prohibits voter suppression and vote dilution, and ensures protections for limited English proficient and disabled voters. The act also requires political subdivisions to obtain judicial preapproval for emergency changes to polling places, early voting sites, or mail ballot drop boxes. It establishes an online repository of election and voting data and mandates liberal construction of voting-related laws.
