Introduced Text

Rhode Island S2928 mandates employers to grant full-time employees four hours of paid leave annually for blood donation.

Rhode Island S2928 amends the Healthy and Safe Families and Workplaces Act to require employers to provide full-time employees with four hours of paid leave once a year for blood donation through an approved program. This leave must be taken at the employee's regular rate of pay without loss of accrued time, pay, or benefits. Employees must provide reasonable advance notice to their employer and may be asked to provide written verification from the blood donation program. Employers cannot penalize or discriminate against employees for taking this leave.
