Rhode Island state employees will be eligible for temporary disability insurance starting January 1, 2027.
This bill amends the Rhode Island General Laws to include state employees under the temporary disability insurance program. Effective January 1, 2027, state employees will be eligible for benefits in the same manner as other covered employees. The state will be deemed an employer for this purpose and will remit employer and employee contributions to the temporary disability insurance fund. Payroll deductions for employee contributions will be made in the same manner as required of other employers.
