Rhode Island S2887 amends the state's insurance laws to clarify the process for paying dental insurance benefits directly to dental care providers. The bill allows insured individuals to direct, in writing, that their benefits be paid directly to any dental care provider, whether or not they are contracted with the insurance entity. Upon receiving a written direction, the entity must pay the benefits directly to the provider. The amount paid must be at least the highest reimbursement amount paid to any participating provider for the same service.
